Keep Drop-Off and Pick-Up Quick and Focused: A Friendly Reminder for Our School Community

Drop-off and pick-up are two of the most important moments in a child’s day. They frame the beginning and end of their school experience, and they set the tone for the transition between home and our learning environment. As part of our commitment to creating a safe and nurturing space for your children, we want to gently remind families of a few safety practices that help us keep our school secure, calm, and running smoothly. These guidelines may seem simple, but they play an essential role in protecting all students, staff, and families.
Keep Drop-Off and Pick-Up Quick and Focused
We ask all families to keep these times as quick and focused as possible. Once your child is signed in or out, we kindly request that you avoid staying inside the building or allowing your child to wander into hallways, classrooms, or other areas of the school. These brief transition times are often busy for teachers and students, and extra foot traffic can make it harder for staff to supervise the children in their care. A smooth, efficient routine ensures that everyone can move safely and comfortably through the day.
Another important safety step is making sure the door closes securely behind you. Please avoid holding the door open for others unless you personally know them, as this helps prevent unauthorized entry. It may feel polite to let someone in, but ensuring each person checks in properly is a key part of keeping our school secure.
Give Your Child Your Full Attention
We also encourage parents to stay off their phones during pick-up. For your child, the moment they see you at the end of the day is full of excitement and emotional connection. After spending a busy day learning, playing, and exploring in our care, they feel reassured when they see you focused and present. A warm smile, eye contact, and a quick hello can make the transition home feel safe, loving, and grounded. Setting aside distractions during these moments strengthens your bond and communicates to your child that you are fully there for them.
Outdoor Areas Are Not Supervised Outside School Hours
Before and after school, we ask families not to allow children to play in the playground, on the lawn, or in the parking lot. These areas are only supervised during scheduled school hours, and equipment may not yet have been checked for daily safety. While it may be tempting to give your child a few minutes to run around, unsupervised play in these spaces increases the risk of injury or wandering.
Close the Parking Lot Gate Behind You
One of the most important ways families can help is by ensuring the parking lot gate is securely closed when leaving. This gate is the last barrier preventing children from walking into the parking area without an adult. Even with vigilant staff and attentive parents, little ones can move quickly. Taking a moment to confirm the gate is closed adds an important layer of protection for everyone.
Working Together for Our Children’s Safety
We appreciate your partnership in keeping our school safe and welcoming. Your cooperation during drop-off and pick-up supports our teachers, reassures your children, and helps maintain a secure environment for all. Thank you for being an essential part of our school community and for helping us ensure that every child begins and ends their day safely, smoothly, and with a smile.
